Dryer Vent Inspections

Schedule Your Thorough Dryer Vent Inspection!

The fact that they’re lighting a fire inside their home seems to help encourage homeowners to pay attention to the regular maintenance of their chimney. Too often, though, dryer vent maintenance is forgotten. That vent and its function are relatively out of sight, so it’s unfortunately often out of mind as well. But dryer vent fires are a serious hazard, and dryer vent maintenance is an extremely important part of ensuring that your home and family are as safe as they can and should be.

The U.S. Fire Administration’s National Fire Data Center released a report in 2012 that focused on clothes dryer fires in residential buildings between 2008 and 2010. The report found that nearly 3,000 dryer fires were reported annually to U.S. fire departments, resulting in injuries, deaths and an average of $35 million in property loss every single year. The leading contributor to those fires, according to the report’s findings, was failure to clean.
Dryer use creates lint — which we all know well from cleaning the lint filter each time we run another load of laundry in the machine. But that filter lint is far from all of it. Much of the lint produced by drying your laundry goes into your dryer vent, which is designed primarily to remove the heat and vapor that’s produced as your machine dries your clothes. That lint travels though the vent and can settle in the ducts, building up to where it can constrict and block the ducts, impeding proper venting. Lint is highly combustible, so when ducts become blocked and heat gets trapped, fires often follow.

Jay Walker Enterprises Can Help Make Your Dryer Vents Safer

With proper maintenance, dryer fires are avoidable, as are the injuries, deaths and property loss that result from those fires. At Jay Walker Enterprises, our aim is to help our customers enjoy the convenience of their dryer as safely as possible. We install, inspect and clean dryer vents regularly, making sure that they are free of excess lint or other issues that might impede optimal operation.

Installation

We install dryer vents using metal ducts that provide the proper level of safety. We regularly replace commonly-used flexible foil ducts, as those can kink and capture excess lint, creating a fire hazard.

Inspections

Jay Walker Enterprises’ technicians use highly effective, state-of-the-art diagnostic tools to inspect your dryer vents. These tools allow us to detect and resolve any issues that are impeding proper function before they become problems or fire hazards.

Cleaning

We use specially-designed tools to thoroughly clean your dryer vent ducts, ridding them of lint build-up and removing potential fire hazards. Beyond this danger, a clogged dryer vent also keeps your dryer from working properly, forcing you to waste time, energy and money by running your dryer longer or repeatedly. A clean dryer vent means a safer, more efficient dryer.
Annual chimney inspections are an important part of being a conscientious homeowner. And at Jay Walker Enterprises, our goal is to make sure that the chimneys of Tallahassee and the surrounding areas are as safe and efficient as they can be.
